Adding buildings or related structure to a property? If so, you must always request information on the location of all underground gas lines before any foundations, walls or buildings are installed.

Part 6 – Division 1 of the Gas Safety Regulation lists requirements and procedures for installation and excavation. This section includes specifics such as duties of persons constructing near gas installations and the procedures to follow if a gas installation is exposed or damaged.

Before starting your project, contact BC One Call – a free service that provides the location of underground lines. BC One Call can be reached at 1 800 474 6886, or by dialing *6886 from a cell phone. You can also visit the BC One Call website to place your inquiry online. Please plan ahead and allow for at least three business days before excavation.

If you have any questions, contact your local gas safety officer or call 1 866 566 7233 and we will have a gas safety officer get in touch with you.
