Pressure Welder Certification

Overview

Class A Pressure Welder practical exams are conducted by Technical Safety BC, at designated host locations throughout British Columbia.

Note: Class IT and Class R practical testing is conducted by recognized test administrators and testing details are not included here.

You must apply for your certificate before you can book your exam.

Fees: view Class A Pressure Welder application evaluation and practical examination fees in the Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Refrigeration fee schedule.

Note: The host location where the exam is invigilated may also collect fees that are separate from the application evaluation and practical examination fees mentioned above. For more information on these fees, please contact the host location directly.

Once we receive your application and a review of eligibility is completed, you will be invited to book your exam through your Online Services account.

Please note:

  • It is not recommended to book any travel arrangements until your exam date is confirmed.
  • An exam may not proceed if the minimum number of candidates is not booked.
  • An exam date may not be available to be booked if the maximum number of candidates is registered.

Upon passing your exam, you will be notified of your certification issuance by email and you will be able to see the status of your certification through your Online Services account. A wallet card will then be mailed to you via Canada Post. Once you have received notification that your certification has been issued, you may begin performance qualification testing. Performance qualification tests must be conducted by a recognized test administrator.

Upon failing the exam, you may register through your Online Services account to take the exam again 30 days after the previous attempt.

Class A Pressure Welder certificates must be renewed every 3 years. Learn more.

Class R and Class IT Pressure Welder certificates cannot be renewed.
