Elevating Devices Design Registration

Licensed contractors must register designs for new installations or alterations to existing elevating devices. There are two application pathways - hardcopy paper work or electronic submission.

Hardcopy Paperwork

  1. Complete the Elevating Devices Drawings and Specifications Submission for Installation Permit Form 1069 form. Note: If you are performing a cab modernization, you must also submit the Elevating Devices Internal Cab Modernization Data Sheet Form 1072.
  2. Mail or drop off your completed application along with three copies of all drawings and specifications documents to our New Westminster office with the correct fee for your type of elevating device.

Electronic Submission (Recommended)

If your signing engineer has the appropriate Engineers & Geoscientists of BC (formerly APEGBC) Digital Signature and Electronic Seal Technology you can apply electronically.

  1. Submit the Elevating Devices Drawings and Specifications Submission for Installation Permit Form 1069

  2. Email the completed application with digital signature and seal applied to EDDesignSubmission@technicalsafetybc.ca. If you require expedited service, please indicate “Rush” in the subject line.

  3. Technical Safety BC will contact your finance department by phone to arrange payment. Note: Additional processing time will occur should fee payment be delayed on your end.

Design Registration Review

Our design registration review can take up to four weeks from the date you submit an application. Once the design is registered, you’ll receive a confirmation letter from Technical Safety BC which becomes your installation permit. After installation of the new elevating device, an inspection is required before the elevating device is put into service.
