BC power engineers, operators, and safety awareness certificate holders urged to renew certification before Dec 2 deadline

To align BC with standards adopted by other Canadian jurisdictions, holders of power engineering, operator, and safety awareness certificates of qualification are advised to renew their certification before December 2, 2018.

Renewals are essential for certificate holders to work legally in the province of British Columbia and are in line with recent changes to the Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation.

There is no fee for renewals made before December 2, 2018.

The benefits of certification renewal are multi-fold. Upon renewal, certificate holders will be included in a database of active qualified individuals in good standing. They will also be issued a new, security-enhanced wallet card that will help reduce identity falsification in the industry. Certification will remain valid until 2021, and will provide proof of qualification for current and prospective employers.

How to renew?

To renew, certificate holders require their certificate number, current mailing address, and a valid email address. Renewals can be requested by logging in to the certificate holder’s online account. To make a new account with Technical Safety BC, certificate holders need to submit an online registration form.

Application for certification renewal can be made in four easy steps:

Step 1: Login to your online account
Step 2: Click on ‘Certification’ in the left side column
Step 3: Click on ‘Renew’ to the right of the certification you’d like to renew
Step 4: Complete and submit the Renewal Application Form for processing

New wallet cards

All applications are reviewed by Technical Safety BC. Upon approval, the applicant is mailed a new wallet card followed at a later date by a wall certificate.
