NTI TRX Series II Wall Hung Gas-fired Boiler recalled due to risk of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning

Recalls

Health Canada has issued a consumer product recall on NTI TRX Series II Wall Hung Gas-Fired Boiler due to risk of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Product

NTI TRX Series II Wall Hung Gas-Fired Boiler that is grey in colour. This includes model numbers: TRX150 Series II, TRX199 Series II, and TRX199C Series II.

Issue

The studs threaded into the aluminum housing on the front of the heat exchanger (used to secure the burner door) can become loose and increase the risk of a carbon monoxide leak, posing a risk of serious injury or death.

What to Do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact a licensed installer to schedule a repair. If the boiler must remain operational to avoid freezing, ONLY operate the boiler with the front cover installed, and ONLY if there is a functional carbon monoxide detector in the boiler room and in the living space.

If you do not have a record of your installer, contact a local plumbing & heating contractor and have them contact NTI to obtain a free repair kit (NTI Part No. 4270278). The kit must be installed by a qualified technician.

For more information, consumers can contact NTI Boilers Inc. by telephone at 1-800-688-2575, by email at recall@ntiboilers.com, visit the company website, or view the Health Canada alert.
