Privacy Policy

At Technical Safety BC we’re committed to keeping your personal information private. Personal Information about our website visitors is collected, used or disclosed in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and is carefully monitored to ensure all necessary information is stored securely.

Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual.  Business contact information (e.g., business name, position title, phone number, fax number, and email) is not considered personal information under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA).

At Technical Safety BC, we are committed to protecting your privacy. Personal information is collected, used, and disclosed in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and only for purposes that are authorised under that Act.

Technical Safety BC collects personal information under the authority of Section 26(c) of FOIPPA.

What We Collect

  • Voluntary Information: Personal information is collected where necessary for the delivery of services, including online transactions, event registration, subscription services, and employment applications.
  • Email Communications: If you contact us, we may collect your email address, IP address, and message content to facilitate a response. Individuals are advised not to transmit sensitive personal information by email, as this method of communication may not be secure.
  • Automatic Collection: When you visit our website, we use cookies and analytics tools to support system administration, statistical reporting, and service improvement activities. This may include the use of generated identifiers to associate interactions across devices for statistical purposes.

Use and Disclosure

Personal information is used only for its original purpose or for a consistent purpose. We do not share or distribute your information to third parties unless authorised by law or disclosed in accordance with FOIPPA.

Third-Party Services

Our website may utilise third-party services such as Google Maps. By using these features, you are subject to the applicable third-party terms of service and privacy policies. For additional details on tracking technologies, please see the section below.

We use third-party technologies for the purposes of administering, evaluating, and improving our website and related services. These technologies include cookies, pixels, tags, scripts, and similar tracking mechanisms that may collect or access information on your device.

Technologies We Use

  • Google Tag Manager (GTM): Manages and deploys tracking technologies on our website. GTM does not itself collect personal information but enables other tags to load and operate.
  • Google Analytics (GA4): Used to track and analyse how users interact with our website (e.g., pages visited, session duration, interactions, device and browser information). Implemented via the Google Tag, which may facilitate data sharing with other Google services where enabled.
  • Google Tag / Google Ads technologies: Including conversion tracking, remarketing and audience creation, and enhanced conversions. These technologies measure advertising effectiveness and support personalised advertising.
  • Advertising Pixels: Including Meta Pixel, Pinterest Tag, Reddit Pixel, and LinkedIn Insight Tag, used to measure performance, attribute conversions, and deliver targeted advertising. The LinkedIn Insight Tag may also be used to understand professional attributes and interactions with advertising content on LinkedIn.
  • HubSpot and Lytics: Used for analytics, customer relationship management, and marketing personalisation.

Information Collected

  • IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised where supported)
  • device identifiers and browser characteristics
  • pages visited, clicks, scroll behaviour, and session activity
  • referring URLs and campaign parameters
  • approximate geolocation (e.g., city or region)
  • inferred interests and audience characteristics
  • interactions with advertisements and marketing content

In some cases, this information may be combined with other data, including information you provide directly. Certain features (such as enhanced conversions) may use hashed identifiers (e.g., hashed email addresses) to improve measurement accuracy.

Where data can reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual, it is treated as personal information under Canadian privacy law.

Purposes of Processing

We use these technologies to:

  • operate and maintain our website
  • analyse and improve website performance and user experience
  • measure the effectiveness of marketing and advertising campaigns
  • create audiences for advertising and remarketing
  • deliver more relevant and personalised content and advertisements
  • support business analytics and reporting

Some of these activities may involve profiling, meaning automated processing to evaluate preferences or interests.

Data Sharing and Integration

Because certain technologies share a common infrastructure (such as the Google Tag), information collected on our website may be made available across multiple Google services (e.g., Google Analytics and Google Ads) where enabled.

Similarly, data collected through advertising pixels (e.g., Meta, Pinterest, Reddit, and LinkedIn) may be used by those platforms in accordance with their own privacy policies to measure performance, build audiences, and deliver targeted advertising.

We do not control how third parties use data once collected, but we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

International Data Transfers

Information collected through these technologies may be processed or stored outside of Canada, including in the United States. As a result, your information may be subject to foreign laws.

We implement reasonable safeguards to protect personal information when it is transferred internationally.

Information collected by Technical Safety BC is retained in accordance with approved retention and disposition schedules.

We protect personal information using industry-standard security measures against unauthorised access or disclosure. Access to systems, applications, and data is restricted to authorised individuals only.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is accurate, complete, and up to date. If you would like to request access to or correction of your information, please contact:
