Incident overview
In a food truck, a worker turned on the supply to propane gas at the beginning of the day, but did not light the pilot for the commercial cooktop. As a result, gas accumulated in the oven of the cooktop for over 30 minutes until a second worker, not knowing of the accumulated gas, lit the pilot light using a BBQ lighter and ignited the buildup of gas. The explosion dislodged the oven door and shattered windows on the truck. The second worker suffered burns to their eyebrows and bruised their leg.
