Incident Overview
A 60-Amp rated heat pump was connected to a 40-Amp two pole breaker. The heat pump and hot tub were on the same bus location. The breaker had been tripping continuously and the homeowner had tried resetting it several times. It is very likely that all the above factors contributed to the failure of the electrical equipment.
