Incident overview
During a routine inspection, maintenance personnel found a tower alignment bolt to be broken. While the bolt was manufactured to account for vibrations from the raised profile of the carrier grip as it passes through the sheave assembly, the lab report from this investigation suggests that vibrations from the normal operations were the likely cause of the broken bolt. The bolt was replaced per manufacturer’s instructions and the ropeway was returned to operation.
