Incident overview
Inside a family home, the insulation of service conductors failed, causing arcing, melting the service conduit. Molten metal dripped and ignited wood in the home’s attic, which resulted in fire damage to an exterior wall of the house. Upon investigation, the conduit containing service conductors showed signs that it had been tampered with. There was no overcurrent protection.
