Elevator Door Jammed During Medical Emergency

Incident overview

An elevator door repeatedly attempted to close while a patient was being loaded by BCEHS members during a medical emergency response. The actions taken to prevent the elevator door from closing, in conjunction with the worn door components, caused the door to jam. After the door was manually forced shut, the hall and car doors latched and could not reopen, delaying the transport of a patient who was experiencing a serious heart attack.
