Location: Salmon Arm
Regulated industry sector: Gas - Propane system
Incident Overview
A worker in a mobile food trailer was attempting to light the pilot light of a gas appliance when a gas leak occurred which ignited and caused burns to the individual. The owner of the mobile food trailer, who was not a qualified gas fitter, had removed the propane char-broiler from the system but did not cap the copper gas line inside the trailer. The worker sustained first degree burns and was admitted to the hospital. The incident's cause was likely the release of propane gas from a gas line left uncapped after the alteration of the system by the uncertified owner.
