Incident overview

A hanger arm on the Golden Eagle Express (GEE) gondola failed just after leaving the bottom station, causing the cabin to detach and fall approximately 1 to 1.5 m to the ground. There were eight passengers inside and only minor injuries were reported.  Technical Safety BC issued a report detailing the cause and contributing factors to the incident including 3 recommendations to industry to further enhance gondola safety in BC.
