A high-efficiency furnace in a home discharged corrosive condensate directly onto a black iron gas pipe due to an improperly installed drain. Gas concentrations reached dangerous levels before the issue was reported by a postal worker and mitigated by a gas utility technician. The incident was attributed to installation errors in the condensate drainage system.
