Reference Number:

Location: Radium Hot Springs, BC
Regulated industry sector: Amusement Devices – Zipline

Incident Overview

A patron of a zipline adventure at Radium Hot Springs traveled across a line holding onto the belay handle to prevent from falling. The patron relied only on their grip to stop them from dropping as they completed the zipline. Investigation found that the patron’s harness became detached to the smart belay lanyard during the start of their travel across the line. The patron did not have their threaded coupling tightened by a wrench, per operating procedure, which may have caused the harness to detach.
