Snagged Rope During Extension Injures Arm

Incident overview

In a counter-weighed personnel hoist, three mechanics were extending the height of the construction mast. While the rope was slack, it snagged on an adjacent car, which was parked at the bottom of the landing. Not realizing that the rope was snagged, the mechanics began to drive down the car which increased tension and caused the leveler to launch upwards. A mechanic’s arm was injured in the process.
