Incident Overview
A wheelchair lift, registered in the 1980’s, dropped to the pit floor with a passenger inside. The passenger was descending when the lift stopped approximately six inches from the second landing. The safety device for the lift engaged but failed to keep the lift secured. The lift dropped approximately another six feet to the pit floor. The passenger sprained their ankle and the lift sustained a significant amount of damage.
