November 24, 2020
Reference Number:
D-GA 2020-01
This directive is being issued by a provincial safety manager pursuant to section 30 of the Safety Standards Act.
This directive interprets the conditions that must be met by the holder of a Class B gas fitter certificate of qualification under section 7(4) of the Gas Safety Regulation (GSR) while working under a valid gas contractor’s license or operating permit.
If the conditions under section 7(4) of the GSR are met, the holder of a Class B gas fitter certificate of qualification is entitled to perform work referred to in section 7(3) of the GSR.
Section 7(4)(b) of the GSR requires that the person must hold a valid Class B gas fitter certificate of qualification, issued on, or before March 31, 2020, that specifically entitles the person to perform the work referred to in section 7(3) of the GSR.
For the purposes of section 7(4)(b) of the GSR, a Grand-parented (GP) designation on the Class B gas fitter certificate of qualification entitles the person to perform work referred to in section 7(3) of the GSR. The (GP) designation will appear on the issued certification of qualification wallet card and official certificate.
