Directive: Correction of Non-Compliances for Amusement Devices

This directive is being issued by a provincial safety manager pursuant to section 30 of the Safety Standards Act.
This directive specifies the applicable method and/or form(s) to notify Technical Safety BC when non-compliances are corrected by the duty holder.
As per requirement 20(3) of the Safety Standards General Regulation, this directive applies to amusement devices for which a certificate of inspection has been issued where non-compliances have been identified by an amusement devices’ safety officer. A declaration must be submitted to Technical Safety BC that the correction(s) have been completed within the timeframe specified on the certificate of inspection.
It is hereby directed that the process to declare a non-compliance, as corrected for all amusement device licensed contractors and/or licensed contractor’s representatives, shall be by:
- Correction of the non-compliance in real-time using Technical Safety BC’s Online Services; or
- Submission of the Amusement ride/passenger ropeway information system confirmation of correction of non-compliances form.
Whichever method is used, be sure to include all relevant documentation to support the correction(s) including pictures, test or other declaration forms, or other proof as indicated by the safety officer on the certificate of inspection.
Failure to correct a non-compliance within the timeframe specified on a certificate of inspection, where no extension has been granted by the safety officer, may result in enforcement action(s).
