This Directive specifies which portions of an internal combustion engine, turbine or other prime mover installation are within the jurisdiction of the regulation and the installation codes to which they must conform.
Specific details
Section 3 (d) of the Gas Safety Regulation exempts internal combustion engines, turbines and other prime movers from the requirements of the regulation; these types of gas appliances do not have to be certified nor do they require permits. This exemption applies to the engine, turbine or prime mover only, the gas supply piping, combustion air supply, storage containers and exhaust venting for these types of appliances are not exempted and must comply with the regulation and applicable codes.
