This safety order is being issued pursuant to section 31 of the Safety Standards Act. A person affected by this safety order may appeal this order, in writing, to the Safety Standards Appeal Board in accordance with Section 51 of the Safety Standards Act. It is an offence under section 72 to not comply with a safety order.
This Safety Order supersedes SO-G5 060801 2.

This safety order is being issued to owners of Revent gas bakery ovens Model 624 in response to a recent incident where an explosion caused the door of one of those ovens to be blown off. An investigation into the incident concluded that improper setup as well as inadequate servicing and maintenance of the oven resulted in the deterioration of the oven’s components which, in turn, led to the explosion.
Part 2: Requirements of this Safety Order
It is hereby ordered that owners of Revent gas bakery ovens Model 624 take the following actions:
- Have the regulated product inspected and serviced by a licensed gas contractor in accordance with the procedures authored and supplied by Revent. Inspection and servicing must ensure that the oven setup conforms to the draft requirements specified by Revent and take into account ambient air pressures that may effect draft. A licensed gas contractor who inspects and services a Model 624 Revent gas bakery oven under this safety order is hereby ordered to supply a report of that inspection and of any service to the owner upon completion of the inspection/service. Relevant inspection procedures, maintenance procedures and service procedures can be obtained from the following manufacturer’s authorized service representative:

- Upon receipt of a report from a licensed gas contractor under 1. above, owners must forward a copy of that report for all Revent Model 624 ovens in their possession or control to the Provincial Administrator, Equipment Approvals named below. Copies of those reports must be received by the Provincial Administrator, Equipment Approvals no later than September 15, 2006.

- Owners must establish a preventative maintenance program to have a licensed gas contractor inspect and service affected ovens at least every six months in accordance with the manufacturer’s inspection/preventative maintenance checklist (as amended by the manufacturer from time to time).
- Owners must maintain records of all inspection/preventative maintenance performed by licensed gas contractors in accordance with 3. above and supply copies of those records to a safety officer upon request. Licensed gas contractors must provide reports to owners of any inspection/preventative maintenance performed under this safety order upon completion of any work.

I certify that I am authorized to issue this safety order in accordance with section 15(d) of the Safety Standards Act or that I have been delegated this power under section 15(g) of the Safety Standards Act. I hereby order that this safety order be complied with by persons effective the date of this safety order under the authority granted by those sections.
