BC Master Electrician

Electrical FSR Certification

Overview

If you hold a field safety representative (FSR) class A, B or C certificate of qualification, and a qualification as a construction or industrial electrician, you can apply for the designation of BC Master Electrician - FSR A, B, or C.

The benefit of having a BC Master Electrician designation allows individuals to:

  • In addition to performing regulated electrical work, you can examine, oversee and validate whether electrical work is safe.
  • Identify any non-compliances, correct them, and submit a declaration that the work is compliant

Note: Professional Engineers and Technologists do not qualify for the BC Master Electrician designation

If you hold a FSR class A, B or C certification and a Canadian electrical trade credential (example: Red seal electrician), you can obtain a Master Electrician designation.

Holders of the designated BC Master Electrician designation – class FSR A, B, or C will still hold a certificate of qualification as a FSR and will therefore be subject to all FSR training and renewal requirements.

You can apply for the BC Master Electrician designation at the time you submit your FSR class A, B or C application. If you already hold an FSR class A, B or C certificate of qualification, you can apply for this designation upon the renewal of your certificate.

To apply for the BC Master Electrician designation, please indicate your electrical trade or red seal qualification number (or other professional electrical trade designation) on your application form and attach a copy of your trade certificate.
