Design registration for movie and stage effects gas system
Movie and stage effects gas system, where a standard does not exist, is registered in accordance with the following codes.
Refer to Canadian gas standards adopted as BC Natural Gas and Propane Code for latest information.
To register a design:
- Submit a completed BC design registration application form.
- For movie and stage effects, submit this additional sub-form.
- Provide documentation to verify that the design conforms to the applicable code/requirement. Refer to the checklist here. Note: Designs have to be made by a certified individual.
- For more than one design, please complete a separate application and collate documents by design.

To ensure that your design registration will move forward, ensure that all requested information as listed on the checklist and application form have been provided. Incomplete application packages will not be processed.
Step 1: Product approval permit
Apply by submitting product approval permit form. This product approval is required before regulated work can begin and a safety officer can perform required field assessment and approval of the equipment.
Step 2: Obtain an installation permit
Licensed contractors working with natural and manufactured gas, liquefied petroleum gas, hydrogen, digester gas, landfill gas, or a mixture or dilution of gasses, need to apply for an installation permit before installing regulated gas equipment, or gas systems. Refer here for information on .
