Technical Safety BC Refund Policy
Fees
This policy explains when you may be eligible for a refund for payments made to Technical Safety BC, including certifications, licenses, permits, and related services.
Eligibility for Refunds
You may be eligible for a refund if:
- We cancel a service, such as an exam or an inspection, before it is delivered.
- we make an error while processing your payment or application.
- you cancel your request before the service has been provided: before an exam is booked or a permit is issued, for example.
- you have overpaid. Overpayments are usually credited to your account for future use and are not always refunded directly.
Installation permit fees may be fully or partially refunded if:
- the permit value was amended.
- the scope of work was amended.
- the job was cancelled and no work started.
When Refunds Are Not Available
Refunds will not be issued if:
- the service has already been provided: an inspection that has been completed or exam has been completed, for example.
- the payment was made more than two years ago.
- the refund amount is less than $100.
- your account is in arrears.
Operating permit fees, late fees, and interest are non-refundable.
How to Request a Refund
To request a refund:
- Complete the Refund Request (Form 1020) application.
- Upload proof of payment, such as your invoice or receipt.
- Submit your request.
Once approved, refunds are processed in approximately four weeks.
