Class FE FSR


A Class FE (Full Entertainment) FSR certificate of qualification entitles the holder to perform temporary installation, maintenance, operation and testing of feeders, branch circuits, and electrical equipment, used for the production of: trade shows, exhibits, displays, festivals, conventions, stage, theatre, carnivals, travelling shows, movie, and television locations, and film or video productions or similar venues, to a maximum of 400 amps, 750 volts, 3 phase power; and connect temporary power to an existing permanent installation.

Scope of work NOT authorized under this certificate:

  • permanent electrical installation of a regulated product or electrical equipment;
  • electrical work on service conductors and service equipment;
  • electrical work in hazardous locations.

To Book an Exam

  1. Complete the following application form online.
  2. Upload:
    -  appropriate documentation when prompted.
    -  scanned original copies of prerequisite documentation (see below for Prerequisites information). Notarized copies will also be accepted.
  3. Make payment when you receive a call from a client service representative.
    Note: Only applicants who have submitted complete documentation and have passed the review are eligible for the exam. Candidates found ineligible will receive a letter notifying them of any missing requirements from Technical Safety BC.
  4. Exam request dates can be made during fee payment. Based on availability, exam dates can be scheduled 15-business days from the time of payment.'
  5. Successful candidates will receive exam confirmation letter by mail or email, as per preference. If you have not received your confirmation letter a week prior to your tentatively scheduled date, please contact Technical Safety BC at 1 866 566 7233.

Exam Information

The exam takes 3.5 hours. It is open book with multiple choice questions. Applicants must achieve a minimum grade of 70% to qualify. Please review our Terms and Conditions before submitting your application.

Certification Renewal

All electrical FSR certificates must be renewed every three years. Learn more about renewing your FSR certificate.

    1. A minimum of four years (7200 hours) acceptable, relevant training and/or electrical work experience.
    2. Work experience in the entertainment industry that is directly related to the activities for which this certificate was intended for, including three phase systems.


    1. Either a resume or employer letter documenting job classifications, duties, scope and type of work performed.
    2. Union letters describing relevant work experience can be considered.
    3. Where experience cannot be verified by a current Class FE FSR, sworn affidavit or Statutory Declaration, outlining relevant work experience is required. Provide documents with original signatures.
