Class LE FSR

Scope

A Class LE (Limited Entertainment) FSR certificate of qualification entitles the holder to act as a Field Safety Representative (FSR) and perform temporary assembly or interconnection of plug-in wiring systems employed in: trade shows, exhibits, displays, festivals, conventions, stage, theatre, carnivals, travelling shows, movie and television locations, and film or video productions or similar venues, to a maximum of 240 volts, 100 amps, three-phase power, utility supplied or maximum of 240 volts, 200 amps, three-phase power, generator supplied.

Scope of work NOT authorized under this certificate:

  • regulated work (electrical work) for the permanent electrical installation of a regulated product (electrical equipment);
  • electrical work in hazardous locations.

To Book an Exam

  1. Complete the following application form online.
  2. Upload:
    -  appropriate documentation when prompted.
    -  scanned original copies of prerequisite documentation. Notarized copies will also be accepted.
  3. Make payment when you receive a call from a client service representative.
    Note: Only applicants who have submitted complete documentation and have passed the review are eligible for the exam. Candidates found ineligible will receive a letter notifying them of any missing requirements from Technical Safety BC.
  4. Exam request dates can be made during fee payment. Based on availability, exam dates can be scheduled 15-business days from the time of payment.
  5. Successful candidates will receive exam confirmation letter by mail or email, as per preference. If you have not received your confirmation letter a week prior to your tentatively scheduled date, please contact Technical Safety BC at 1 866 566 7233.

Exam Information

The 2-hour exam is open book with multiple choice questions. Applicants must achieve a minimum grade of 70% to qualify.

Certification Renewal

All electrical field safety representative (FSR) certificates must be renewed every three years.

Prerequisites
  1. A minimum of two years (3600 hours) acceptable, relevant training and/or electrical work experience.
  2. A Live Performance Electrical Certificate (LPEC) issued by Actsafe, course may be considered towards the experience requirements.
  3. Experience to be in the entertainment industry directly in the activities for which this certificate was intended, including three phase systems.

Documentation:

  • Provide either a resume or employer letter documenting job classifications, duties, scope and type of work performed.
  • Union letters describing relevant work experience can be considered.
  • Provide documents with original signatures.

Where experience cannot be verified by a current Class LE FSR, Sworn Affidavit or Statutory Declaration, outlining relevant work experience is required. Provide documents with original signatures.
