Class UR FSR


A Class UR (Underground Raceway) FSR certificate of qualification entitles the holder to assemble, construct, install, maintain or repair and alter underground electrical conduit.

To Book an Exam

  1. Complete the following application form online.
  2. Upload:
    -  appropriate documentation when prompted.
    -  scanned original copies of prerequisite documentation (see below for Prerequisites information). Notarized copies will also be accepted.
  3. Make payment when you receive a call from a client service representative.
    Note: Only applicants who have submitted complete documentation and have passed the review are eligible for the exam. Candidates found ineligible will receive a letter notifying them of any missing requirements from Technical Safety BC.
  4. Exam request dates can be made during fee payment. Based on availability, exam dates can be scheduled 15-business days from the time of payment.
  5. Successful candidates will receive exam confirmation letter by mail or email, as per preference. If you have not received your confirmation letter a week prior to your tentatively scheduled date, please contact Technical Safety BC at 1 866 566 7233.

Exam Information

The exam takes 2.5 hours. It is open book with multiple choice questions. Applicants must achieve a minimum grade of 70% to qualify. Please review our Terms and Conditions before submitting your application.

Certification Renewal

All electrical FSR certificates must be renewed every three years. Learn more about renewing your FSR certificate.


Minimum of one year's (1800 hours) acceptable, relevant training and/or electrical work experience.


  1. Either a resume or employer letter documenting job classifications, duties, scope and type of work performed.
  2. Where Field Safety Representative(FSR) can verify experience, provide letters from employers signed by the FSR named on the contractor’s license, showing FSR registration number, class, and original signatures.
  3. Where experience cannot be verified by a current Class UR FSR, Sworn Affidavit or Statutory Declaration, outlining relevant work experience is required. Provide documents with original signatures.

  1. Current Canadian Electrical Code Part 1, as adopted in BC by the Electrical Safety Regulations. Sections - 0, 2, 6, 12, 54, 56, 60.
  2. Current version of the CSA errata
