Gas Certification
Overview
A Gas Venting Certificate of Qualification allows you to alter, repair, and install venting for appliances that have a maximum individual input up to and including 120 kW, under an appropriate permit.
This certificate does not include:
- direct vent appliances
- ability to install, service, or commission gas appliances
- ability to be named on a permit
To obtain this certificate, you will need to meet certain eligibility requirements and pass an exam.
Exam eligibility
To apply for this exam, you must have one of the following:
- An industry training credential in sheet metal, plumbing, steamfitting, refrigeration, or sprinkler fitting
- An equivalent combination of experience and training in gas venting recognized by the provincial safety manager
