Safety education
We strive to build a safer British Columbia by identifying risks, addressing hazards, and providing the tools, knowledge, and impetus to reduce incidents and injuries. In this section you will find safety information and advice from Technical Safety BC safety officers, including responding to natural disasters, completing a home renovation, and avoiding unnecessary illness and injury both in and outside of your home.

Are you an asset owner, contractor, or certified individual? Learn what you need to do in the event of extreme flooding.
Is your home CO safe? Learn more about the dangers of carbon monoxide exposure and the steps you can take to protect your loved ones.

Wildfires are a growing concern as dry conditions brought on by climate change contribute to an elevated risk across many parts of the province.
If your renovations include electrical or gas work, we recommend hiring a licensed contractor or apply for a homeowner permit.

Technical Safety BC safety officers answer questions from contractors and the public. Have a question for one of our safety officers? Send us an email.
